Władysława de Tergonde

The little sister of Mother Columba whom she endearingly called “Władzia” was born in Yasnishchi on June 27, 1840. Even though younger by 2 years, in May of 1852, together with Rose, she began education in the all-girls school run by the Sacré Coeur Sisters in Lviv. When she was 18, she married Romuald Coppieters de Tergonde. Quite early on, the marriage proved to be an unhappy one. Thus, for the good of their children, she sought separation and division of the estate. She birthed four children: Maria, Julius Valentine, Anna, and Stanislaus. Both boys died soon after their birth. Her daughter Anna entered the Congregation of the Franciscan Sisters of the Most Holy Sacrament in Lviv while Maria got married with Julius Zdanowski.

Maria Rubczyńska Exhausted with hardships, Władysława started to ail and her health declined prematurely. What worse, she distanced herself from God to the degree she refused to even hear about confession. Mother Columba who kept vigils by her bedside till she breathed her last gently encouraged reconciliation. Plausibly, thanks to her ardent prayers, Władysława died on July 17, 1873 united with God. She was buried next to her father Francis Bialecki in Lviv on the Lychakiv Cemetery.
